WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA) and members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) met with President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in the Oval Office to discuss timely issues impacting Latinos and Hispanic American families across the country.
Following the meeting, Congresswoman Sánchez issued the following statement:
“Leaders of the CHC had a very productive meeting today with President Biden and Vice President Harris. From robust immigration reform, to vaccine equity, to rebuilding an economy that actually works for all American families, one thing is clear: the CHC and the White House are committed to ensuring the American Dream is a reality for all communities.
“President Biden reiterated that immigration reform is one of his top priorities. He and Vice President Harris are working to restore humanity to our immigration system and process asylum seekers at our southern border with dignity and respect. The President gave his commitment that young migrant children will not be held in facilities for longer than is absolutely necessary.
“We discussed the U.S. Citizenship Act and the need for Congress to pass long overdue, robust reform. The President and the CHC know it is far past time that we deliver permanent solutions to our broken system. We look forward to working with the Biden-Harris Administration to address the root causes of migration, deliver citizenship to the millions who call this country home, and unlock the full potential of immigrants’ contributions to our economy.
“I look forward to more conversations like the one we had today as we continue to deliver for Latinos and Hispanic families across the country.”
