“On the basis of the Kaluzhskaya metro station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line and the Vorontsovskaya station under construction on the Big Circle Line (BCL), a transport interchange hub will be created,” he said.

The transport and interchange hub will provide a comfortable transfer between two metro stations and surface public transport. So, they will install stopping pavilions with awnings.

The Vorontsovskaya station of the BCL will be located in the Obruchevsky district, where the Bakery passage adjoins Profsoyuznaya street. Its construction is planned to complete by the end of the year. With the emergence of a new interchange hub, residents of neighboring districts will be able to get directly to Zyuzin and Vernadsky Prospekt.

“In total, four stations will appear in the Obruchevsky area in the coming years – these are two BCL stations and two stations on the line that will go to Troitsk. The situation with metro accessibility will radically change for the better, ”said Rafik Zagrutdinov.

Vorontsovskaya is part of the southern section of the Big Circle Line. Construction of this section from Prospekt Vernadsky station to Kakhovskaya began in April 2017. Its length is seven kilometers, here settle downthree stations: Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya and Zyuzino.

The opening of the southern section of the BCL will improve transport services in the Vernadsky Prospect, Obruchevsky, Konkovo, Cheryomushki and Zyuzino districts with a population of about 550 thousand people, reduce the load on the central and southern sections of the Sokolnicheskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya metro lines, and reduce the traffic intensity on the adjacent road network by about 10-15 percent and ensure the integration of the Troitskaya line under construction into the Moscow Metro.

BCL is the world’s largest metro construction project. Its length will be 70 kilometers, the line will have 31 stations and three electric depots (including the existing section “Kakhovskaya” – “Kashirskaya”). The large circular line will connect the existing and prospective radial branches at a distance of up to 10 kilometers from the existing circular line, which will relieve the first (stations inside the ring) and the second (ring line) interchange lines of the subway.
