Experts hid the wires in underground canals, installed 39 modern stops and a convenient tram platform for passengers.
The specialists of the municipal economy complex have completed the main work on the improvement of the outbound highway, which stretches from Bolshiye Kamenshchiki Street to the Kolomenskaya metro station.
The works were carried out on the streets of Bolshie Kamenshchiki, Simonovsky Val, Velozavodskaya, Saykina, Andropov Avenue from Nagatinskaya embankment to the Kolomenskaya metro station and in Novospassky passage.
“The main task was to create the most comfortable environment for pedestrians and passengers while maintaining the main transit function of the highway,” emphasized the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government
Petr Biryukov. “Public transport stops and metro stations become points of attraction during such reconstructions, which, after the completion of the work, are transformed into city mini-squares”.
As part of the improvement, a new public space was created – a public garden near the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sevastia in the area of Novospassky passage. The territory was paved with granite tiles, a lawn and flower beds were laid out, benches, pergolas, swings, urns were installed, trees and shrubs were planted. The square is illuminated by new lamps with energy-saving lamps.
All overhead lines were removed underground into cable ducts, the total length of which was 11 kilometers. Also installed 376 cable wells.
“Particular attention was paid to the safety of pedestrians – 71 pedestrian crossings were reconstructed in the improvement zone, and eight more zebras were additionally equipped,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow. “Lanterns with contrasting lighting were installed at 45 crossings, thanks to which the zebra itself and pedestrians are clearly visible in the dark.”
For public transport passengers, 39 outdated bus stops were replaced with modern ones. They can charge a mobile phone and connect to Wi-Fi.
An elevated platform for tram passengers was installed at the intersection of Novospassky Proezd and 3rd Krutitsky Lane, thanks to which it will be more convenient for people with disabilities, the elderly and parents with children to enter the carriages. Another platform is planned to be installed next year at the intersection of Andropov Avenue and Nagatinskaya Street.
The improvement of the departure highway will be fully completed in 2021. They plan to plant 7.6 thousand shrubs and 47 trees, lay out 16.6 hectares of lawn. In addition, 345 urns and benches and more than 50 navigation steles will be installed. On the territory there will be 64 bicycle parking lots, four bike rental points and 10 scooter rental points.
