Shamim Khan Katawazai, Director of IDLG signed development project contracts with directors of ACTED Afghanistan and Afghanistan National Re-Construction Co-ordination (ANCC) on Citizen Charter and Eshteghal Zaiee – Karmondena Project (EZ-Kar) today at the Presidential Palace.
Shamim Khan Katawazai said 914 projects have been implemented via Citizen Charter program in Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-e Sharif at the cost of 110 million dollars during the past three years, adding that expansion of the program will result in implementation of numerous projects worth 45 million dollars in of Helmand, Ghazni, Farah, Parwan, Jawzjan, Badakhshan, Paktia, Logar, Nimruz and Mazar-e Sharif provinces.
Minister of Economy Karima Hamid Faryabi said the main objective of the EZ-Kar inter-ministerial project is to create appropriate environment for economic opportunities, reform trade and investment regulations, facilitate business activities, set priorities in urban projects, and improve market enabling structure.
President Ghani who was delivering the closing remarks in the ceremony congratulated all Afghans on commencement of EZ-Kar project particularly those who have been affected by the spread of COVID-19, adding that its implementation will improve the living conditions of the affected people in the cities where poverty has been exacerbated by the pandemic.
The President said this opportunity should be seized for creating employment and underscored that foundations should be laid to provide an enabling environment for entrepreneurial activities where the critical role of women need to be taken into consideration as well.
