New collimator sights were adopted by motorized rifle units of the combined arms army of the Western Military District in the Bryansk region.

Battalion tactical groups will use the 1P63 and 1P29 small arms sights already at the first field exit in the winter training period.

More than 200 sets of attachments entered service under the State Defense Order and are intended for firing at different times of the day and are used with various modifications of the Kalashnikov assault rifle: AKMN, AK 74N3, AK 74MS, AKS 74N5, AN 94 and light machine guns: RPKN, RPK 74N and RPK 74M.

Unlike laser sights, only the shooter sees the aim point. The sight has double illumination that does not require special adjustment. It is especially useful when conducting operations in confined spaces where it is impossible to capture the target with both eyes.

The 1P63 collimator sight provides convenience and ease of aiming, which allows in dynamic combat, as well as in conditions of limited time for firing from unstable positions when firing from automatic weapons, to significantly increase the effectiveness of shooting small arms by reducing aiming time and aiming errors.

Aiming is carried out on an aiming mark, the image of which is in infinity. The shape and color of the sighting mark in the daytime is a triangle, two horizontal strokes and one vertical stroke in white, and at night – two horizontal strokes and one vertical stroke in green.

At dusk, a triangle and all strokes are visible, both white and green.
