During the field monitoring, the specialists of the Presidential Grants Fund visited the Angarsk educational colony of the GUFSIN of Russia in the Irkutsk region, which became a platform for the implementation of the projects “My first home. Start into the future ”and“ Do not repeat my path ”.

The head of the Angarsk VC Alexei Alekseev, the deputy director of the secondary school of the GUFSIN Lyubov Ivanova and the director of the “Assistance” fund Yevgeny Ivanov spoke about the implementation of projects and shared plans for the further development of activities. According to the representatives of the colony and the school, the work of the projects and the support of the public in the person of the Sodeystvie Foundation made it possible to bring educational and re-socialization work with adolescents to a new level. Further implementation of projects and transfer of the gained experience to other correctional institutions in the region and beyond will be able to qualitatively complement the existing system of prevention of asocial behavior of minors.

The Do Not Repeat My Path project has been implemented in Angarsk VK since April 2018. Pupils participate in face-to-face and online meetings with adolescents at social risk in order to counter their own life experiences with criminal romance. Pupils talk about real life in the institution, which differs from fictions in the spirit of criminal romance. Peer-to-peer meetings are informal, highly emotional, and have a great effect on adolescents at risk because of the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of their peers.

According to the project “My first home. Step into the Future ”in August 2019, a training apartment was equipped in the rehabilitation center of the Angarsk VK to prepare inmates for release. In an apartment, teenagers learn to live independently: they work, plan a budget, do housework and cook food, and do minor repairs. The learning process is accompanied by tutors, teachers, educators, psychologists, teachers of additional education, medical workers. The technology of the “training apartment”, which was previously widely recommended in working with orphans and people with disabilities, is being used for the first time in the penal system.
