The volunteers were representatives of the Ostrovsky intermunicipal branch of the criminal executive inspection of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Pskov region. They brought food for the animals, as well as booths, skillfully made by the hands of a convict registered with the Penitentiary Institute.
With the onset of winter, our younger brothers especially need the help of caring people. A shelter for stray dogs was organized by one of the local residents of the Ostrovsky district. Now it contains almost two hundred abandoned animals that constantly need food, medicine and a roof over their heads, and the possibilities of the shelter are limited.
The idea to take part in the volunteer action came after a post with a request for help posted on social networks. The collection of humanitarian aid was initiated by the staff of the Penitentiary Institute. A beautiful wooden kennel for dogs was made with pleasure by one of the convicts registered at the branch.
– On the eve of the New Year, even animals want miracles and magic. We hope that our little help will turn out to be a real holiday gift for homeless dogs, – said Svetlana Golubeva, head of the Ostrovsky intermunicipal branch of the Penitentiary Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Pskov region.
