The second meeting on the launch of the Unified Interdepartmental Electronic Platform for Foreign Students was held on December 29 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The meeting gathered together officials from various ministries and agencies, in particular representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.

According to the Prime Minister, the introduction of the E-platform should be accelerated with an aim to increase the efficiency of promoting the export of Ukrainian educational services, ensure transparency and accessibility of education for foreign students, of which there are almost 80,000 in Ukraine today.

“The creation of an electronic platform for the admission of foreign students should remove the human factor, intermediaries in the educational process and other factors that can cause corruption. After all, the quality of education received by foreign students primarily improves the image of Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister, the result of the creation of the e-platform should be a simple design and quality education of foreign students, as well as an increase in their number.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister supported the proposal of the State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine on the need to strengthen the licensing conditions for the education of foreign students and increase the responsibility for non-compliance.

“The time has come to do that now in order to have a tool for control the next academic year,” the PM stressed.
