TaiwanICDF and National Chung Cheng University Establish an Online Master’s Program for Officials from Taiwan’s Allied and Partner Countries
Amb. Timothy T. Y. Hsiang, secretary general of the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), and Dr. Zhang-Hua Fong, president of National Chung Cheng University, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to jointly establish the Online Master’s Program of Education and School Leadership. As education has gradually moved towards online courses due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this online master’s program will provide another channel for officials from Taiwan’s allied and partner countries to obtain master’s degrees, and simultaneously solve the problem of officials being unable to leave their jobs for extended periods of time.
At the signing ceremony, Secretary General Hsiang mentioned that the TaiwanICDF has been executing the scholarship program for foreign students for 22 years and thanked National Chung Cheng University for its assistance in the past. Establishing an online master’s program provides the best opportunity for middle and high-ranking government officials from Taiwan’s allied and partner countries to study and understand Taiwan.Since 2013, the TaiwanICDF has cooperated with National Chung Cheng University on the International Master Program of Educational Leadership and Management Development, which has cultivated many foreign students to earn degrees. Graduates of the program have gone on to serve as leaders, experts in education and school teachers of their home countries, effectively improving the quality of human resources in the education field of partner countries. The establishment of an online master’s program will open a digital borderless learning method, and a new chapter for Taiwan’s Official Development Assistance.
