President Ashraf Ghani accepted credence letter of Reid Douglas Sirrs, the newly-appointed ambassador of Canada to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan during a ceremonial event this morning at the Presidential Palace.

While welcoming the incoming Canadian ambassador, President Ghani expressed gratitude to Canada for its support and cooperation with Afghanistan in various areas and stressed on further expansion of bilateral ties between Afghanistan and Canada.

President Ghani discussed state, market and peace building in the context of Afghanistan and said Canada has such a big portfolio in state and market building and Afghanistan looks forward to learn from Canada’s experiences in those areas.

Ambassador Reid Douglas Sirrs expressed happiness over beginning his new mission in Afghanistan and said Canada is looking forward to helping Afghanistan in the mentioned areas and future steps of the peace process.
