Standalone bill, Caring for Americans with Supplemental Help (CASH) Act, would increase second round of direct payments to $2,000
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Luria voted in favor of the Caring for Americans with Supplemental Help (CASH) Act to increase the amount of direct payment support for Coastal Virginians. Under this standalone legislation, eligible Coastal Virginians would receive a second economic impact payment (EIP) of $2,000, up from $600. This legislation also retroactively fixes a flaw in the first round of economic impact payments, which excluded non-child dependents from receiving economic relief.
“Throughout this public health emergency, I have heard from families throughout Coastal Virginia that they are struggling and need additional economic relief,” said Congresswoman Luria. “Tonight, I voted to increase direct economic impact payments to families throughout Virginia because Congressional support must match constituents’ needs in order to quickly recover from this economic crisis.”
Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where she is the Vice Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where she serves as Chair of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee.
