Headline: Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) Votes For Critically-Needed Legislation to Increase Economic Impact Payments to $2,000
Dec 28, 2020
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey joined his colleagues to pass the CASH Act–legislation that would increase economic impact payments to hard-hit Americans to $2,000. Today’s vote comes the heels of last week’s news that President Trump changed his mind on helping Americans and decided to support Democrats’ longstanding call for increasing direct payments to help communities across the country.
“Last week, I was proud to join my colleagues to pass bipartisan COVID-19 relief legislation that will give Americans important immediate emergency relief,” said Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33). “While this legislation was a step in the right direction, it fell woefully short of providing suffering Americans the adequate direct payment relief that Our Democratic House majority had long supported. I urge Republicans to join us to pass the CASH Act and help Americans get through this unprecedented crisis.”
Today’s vote builds on Congressman Veasey’s advocacy for Americans that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Just last week, he joined his colleagues to pass a bipartisan COVID relief package that will provide funding for vaccine distribution, more aid to small businesses, assistance for airline industry workers, expands unemployment benefits and includes critical provisions from Veasey-led legislation that will bolster affordable access to broadband.
