On December 27, a general election was held in the Central African Republic (CAR), which elected the head of state and a new parliament, the National Assembly. Despite provocations and attempts by destructive forces relying on militants of illegal armed groups to disrupt the electoral process, the CAR authorities, with the active support of the UN Multidisciplinary Integrated Stabilization Mission in the CAR (MONUSCA), as well as international partners, managed to hold a vote in most constituencies.

The National Election Commission of the Central African Republic in difficult conditions at the proper level organized the work of polling stations, there is a high turnout of citizens. According to the first rough estimates of local observers, the incumbent President of the CAR, F.A. Tuadera, has a significant advantage over his rivals in terms of the number of votes cast for him.

The voting was followed by observers from the UN, the African Union, the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the European Union. The official announcement of the preliminary results under the Election Law is expected by January 4, 2021.
