On December 25, the paid internships of the “Moscow is a good city” project for graduates of the capital’s universities and colleges ended. 500 people passed them. 86 percent of mentors highly appreciated the work of young professionals and would like to continue working with them or recommend them to future employers. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“The project of internships“ Moscow is a good city ”turned out to be very timely and necessary. It provided an opportunity for 500 graduates of various specialties to see the work of city institutions from the inside, to gain real experience and get acquainted with the wide horizons that open up for young people in the social sphere, to understand and evaluate their role and their career opportunities. I am sure that this internship will help each participant in further employment, and our institutions invited 28 people to the staff even before the end of the internship. It is pleasant to note that 86 percent of mentors highly appreciated the work of young specialists and would like to continue working with them or recommend them as valuable employees to future employers, ”she said.
More than 1,500 applications were submitted for participation in the “Moscow is a Good City” project. After remote testing, 500 children became trainees. They were offered vacancies in areas such as veterinary medicine, health care, education, archive work, MFC services, social protection, HR, media and digitalization.
The interns worked flexible hours 40 hours a week, receiving a salary of 20,195 rubles before taxes. The project helped the graduates gain professional experience, start their careers and get the first entries in work books. The interns were officially employed at the Institute of Continuing Professional Education for Social Workers.
The internship lasted three months, young specialists worked in 237 social institutions of the capital and non-profit organizations (NPO). All project participants will be awarded certificates of internship, and the best of them will receive recommendations and feedback from curators and managers.
The curators of the project noted that the vast majority of trainees showed themselves to be responsible, proactive and promising employees. The best were the guys who underwent internships in non-profit organizations, centers of public services, Glavarkhiv and press services of departments of the social complex. It is these organizations that are ready to take the largest number of graduates for permanent work in the presence of vacancies.
85 percent of the project participants are satisfied with the internship, they marked the work of their curators with the highest score. The guys are sure that three months of practice in the social sphere influenced both professional growth and personal growth.
Internship in non-profit organizations
One of the directions of the “Moscow is a Good City” project is work in partner socially oriented NGOs. Its coordinator was the employment center “My career”… 29 non-profit organizations accepted 77 young professionals for paid internships.
During the practice, they have done more than 2.6 thousand good deeds and helped those who especially need support. Young specialists devoted more than 17 thousand hours to caring for the residents of the city. NGO leaders note that young people have made a significant contribution to the work on the projects. The interns have developed joint programs, attracted new partners to cooperate to help the wards of charitable foundations.
For example, Kirill Makarov joined the regional charitable organization “Mercy” during his internship, which helps pensioners, disabled people and low-income citizens. The young man was able to establish a partnership with a network of metropolitan pharmacies. The company has provided the charitable organization with fixed-value certificates for which retirees will be able to purchase medicines and pharmaceutical goods.
Internship in education
87 people have tried their hand at education. Graduates were trained in such specialties as teacher-defectologist, tutor, educational psychologist, social educator, teacher-organizer, correspondent’s or editor’s assistant, assistant public relations specialist.
They conducted correctional and developmental lessons in schools, dealt with documents, created their own reports. Based on the results of the internship, seven graduates got a job, and the issue of employing three more interns is being resolved.
Internship at Glavarchiv
39 young people were trained at the Moscow Glavarchive. Most of them have tried themselves as archivists. They learned to work with documents from different funds, organize and process archival information, compose headlines, write articles, correctly digitize materials and perform other professional tasks.
Of those who had an internship at the Glavarkhiv, four practiced programming and IT in the department of automated archive technologies. One graduate learned how to draw up personnel documents and draw up personal files of employees in the personnel department. Another intern worked in the legal department.
Internship in public service centers
In the offices of “My Documents” 67 people were trained. They helped employees work with the electronic document management system and registration of correspondence. The interns also worked with documents, answered calls, issued electronic queue tickets, measured the temperature at the entrance to visitors and told them how to fill out applications.
Internship in veterinary clinics
Six young specialists were trained in state veterinary clinics in Moscow. They carried out assignments, worked as an administrator, and helped doctors during appointments and operations. In addition, the trainees got acquainted with the work of the clinical diagnostic room and mastered the veterinary automated system (VetAS).
