The competition of arts and crafts among the convicts was held in the institutions of the Administration of the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments in the Jewish Autonomous Region. As part of the creative event, the participants made products in the “loft” style. The competition was dedicated to the coming year of the White Metal Bull according to the Eastern calendar.

All penitentiary institutions of the region took part, presenting more than ten works, both in full size and in the form of reduced copies. These products will decorate the territories and premises of security institutions.

“For the first time, the loft design direction was offered to the convicts for the disclosure of their creative abilities, the development of artistic taste and imagination,” said Dmitry Ponomarev, senior inspector of the group of educational and social work with convicts of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Jewish Autonomous Region.

– The field for the implementation of ideas in this style is huge. Crafts could be made from any available material: out-of-order equipment, carpentry blanks, parts that have served their life. The main condition is functionality, usefulness in everyday life. As a result, the crafts turned out to be interesting and necessary.

For example, in the Medical Correctional Institution No. 2 and the Birobidzhan educational colony, the rooms of the detachment hostels will be decorated with designer clocks, and the territory of the remand prison No. 1 – a metal sculpture of a bull. “
