At an expanded meeting, under the leadership of Dmitry Oblomiy, head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tyva, the issue of measures to respect human rights taken in the republic’s penitentiaries was considered.
In addition to representatives of the penitentiary department, the Ombudsman for Human Rights (Child) in the Republic of Tyva Olga Rossova, Ombudsman for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs Renat Oorzhak, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor of the Republic of Tyva for Supervision of Compliance with the Law in the Execution of Criminal Sentences Semyon Soloviev, Chairman Public Council under the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tyva on the problems of the penitentiary system Radmila Oyun and the chairman of the Public Observatory Commission of the Republic of Tuva for monitoring the observance of human rights in places of detention Orlan Sain.
“The UFSIN carries out constant work aimed at improving the living conditions for suspects, accused and convicted persons, provided that their meals, medical and clothing support, working conditions, training and leisure are organized. A lot of work has been done to reduce the number of people held in the UFSIN institutions and expand the practice of alternative punishments, ”said Dmitry Oblomiy, who opened the meeting.
The guests present in their reports noted that thanks to the constructive and fruitful activities of the Federal Penitentiary Service with the ombudsmen, supervisory authorities, public and religious organizations, it is possible to timely respond to emerging problems.
During the meeting, it was noted about the great role of public figures in the organization of social, cultural and sports events.
Special attention was paid to the issue of resocialization of convicts, highlighting training, labor and maintaining social ties as the main mechanisms for its successful implementation.
At the end of the meeting, the participants of the meeting made a number of constructive proposals to improve the efficiency of joint work, to improve the activities of the institution of correction, by attracting representatives of the scientific community of the republic, the media, cultural and art workers, sports organizations and religious confessions to work with convicts.
