Chief Executive Carrie Lam toured the Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Points today to inspect the implementation of the Return2hk scheme.
Residents who want to return to Hong Kong via the scheme must apply online under a boundary control point-specific quota.
They are also required to obtain a green QR code by submitting a valid negative COVID-19 test result to the Department of Health through the Yuekang code or the Macao Health Code within 24 hours before setting off.
They can then be exempted from the compulsory quarantine requirement upon arrival in Hong Kong.
Mrs Lam was pleased to note that the scheme has been running smoothly. About 20,000 Hong Kong residents have returned from Guangdong or Macau.
She also thanked colleagues at the control points for enforcing anti-epidemic measures to safeguard public health.
