Specialists of the automotive and armored service of the Baltic Fleet are preparing the IS-3 tank, which is currently located in the city of Krasnoznamensk, for shooting from a pedestal. It is planned that the place of the IS-3 on the pedestal will be taken by a light amphibious tank PT-76, which is already practically prepared for this by the personnel of the repair and restoration unit of the Baltic Fleet.

The shooting of the tank from the pedestal will take place on December 29 in Krasnoznamensk. IS-3 will be loaded onto a conveyor using a crane and delivered to Kaliningrad. Then the specialists of the repair and restoration battalion of the Baltic Fleet will install an engine in the tank, and carry out the necessary work to restore many mechanisms and assemblies that provide the running capabilities of the tank, carry out maintenance and paint the tank.

After the completion of the complex of measures for the restoration of the IS-3 tank, training of the driver, the combat vehicle will take an honorable place in the mechanized column of the Victory Parade in the Great Patriotic War annually held in the city of Kaliningrad.

According to experts, the restoration and bringing into working condition of a combat vehicle of the mid-forties can take from several months to a year.
