A year-round ice arena of the Northern Fleet was opened in Severomorsk on the Alysh hill today.

The opening ceremony of the ice arena was held under the leadership of the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Northern Military Hockey League teams. Currently, there are 23 teams representing the formations, formations and military units of the Northern Fleet and the Russian Ministry of Defense, including one women’s team.

During the ceremony, Admiral Alexander Moiseev thanked everyone who contributed to the construction of a year-round ice arena and expressed hope that this facility would allow the Northern Fleet hockey players to achieve new sports results and victories.

At the end of the opening ceremony of the ice arena, the first hockey match of the new season took place – a friendly meeting between the national team of the Northern Military Hockey League and the command of the Northern Fleet’s headquarters and management “K-21”. This match kicked off the annual ice hockey tournament for the Northern Fleet Commander’s Cup.

The sports ice complex was built taking into account all modern requirements. It will act in the interests of the hockey teams of formations and units deployed in Severomorsk and in other nearby garrisons of the fleet. In the future, on the basis of the ice arena, sports sections will be opened for training children of servicemen of the Northern Fleet and residents of the city.

The new sports facility will become the main ice arena of the Northern Military Hockey League, where it will be possible to hold hockey matches and training on artificial ice all year round.
