In the Murmansk region, long-range aviation pilots performed scheduled flights on long-range Tu-22m3 bombers in difficult meteorological conditions. The peculiarity of this flight shift was heavy snowfall and strong crosswind, about 8 meters per second.

This flight shift was the first in the new academic year held at a meteorological minimum.

The crews worked out takeoffs and landings, en-route and in a predetermined zone flights, as well as elements of interaction with the flight management team with limited visibility during daylight and nighttime.

“Experienced instructors were involved in the flights, young officers could clearly see how such flight shifts were carried out. The main task of these measures is to maintain the level of training and combat readiness of the crews to fly in any weather conditions, ”said the commander of the aviation regiment, Colonel Oleg Timoshin.

On the ground, the engineering and technical staff have worked out the standards for the maintenance and preparation of aircraft for repeated flights at established time intervals.

In total, 7 flights were made during the flight shift, and 10 units of automobile and special equipment of the airfield technical support battalion were involved.
