There are 56 stationary and 38 mobile snow-rafting stations in the city.

365 thousand cubic meters of snow disposed of at the capital’s snow-rafting stations since Friday. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“At present, the city continues to clean streets, roads, sidewalks and courtyards after a heavy snowfall, the collected snow is taken to snow-melting points for further disposal. In two days, 365 thousand cubic meters of snow was utilized, ”noted Pyotr Biryukov.

He added that there are 56 stationary and 38 mobile snow-melting stations in the city. Their principle of operation is based on the use of waste water heat.

“The resulting melt water, together with other effluents, is discharged to the treatment plant, where a full cycle of mechanical and biological treatment awaits them. This prevents contaminated snow from entering city water bodies and has a positive effect on the environmental situation, ”stressed Pyotr Biryukov.
