The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department today announced that it took stringent enforcement actions relating to anti-epidemic regulations during the Christmas period.

It stepped up inspections and conducted joint operations with Police in Central & Western, Wan Chai, Southern District, Yau Tsim Mong, Wong Tai Sin, Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan on December 25.

A total of 229 catering premises and five other premises were inspected during the joint operations, and 440 catering premises were examined by the department on its own yesterday.

The department initiated procedures on prosecution against seven catering business operators suspected of breaking the Prevention & Control of Disease (Requirements & Directions) (Business & Premises) Regulation.

Four were related to the distance or partition between tables and three were related to the proper display of the poster containing the venue QR code for the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app.

The department stressed it will continue to step up law enforcement and publicity efforts and will deploy additional manpower to conduct joint operations with Police this weekend.

Stringent enforcement actions will be taken against offenders to ensure compliance of relevant regulations, it added.
