For the first time, servicemen of the air defense units of the Central Military District (CVD) conducted an exercise to combat unmanned aerial vehicles in conjunction with the calculations of electronic warfare (EW), radio intelligence and aerosol countermeasures. The exercise ended today at a training ground in the Chelyabinsk region.

In the course of practical actions, three tactical episodes were worked out. The calculations of the radio intelligence complexes found the control frequencies of unmanned aerial vehicles preparing for take-off and transmitted the data to the command post.

Then the EW specialists carried out the suppression of communication and navigation channels, preventing the drones from taking off. In the second episode, aerosol counteraction calculations hid the protected area and air defense systems in the visible and infrared ranges, using the TDA-3 thermal smoke equipment.

At the final stage of the exercise, the drones were discovered and conditionally destroyed by the crews of the Tor-M1 and Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile systems at altitudes ranging from 350 meters to 3000 meters at a distance of up to 12 kilometers.

The role of the air enemy was performed by unmanned aerial vehicles “Tachyon” and “Orlan-10”, simulating targets operating at low and extremely low altitudes. The coordinates of the detected targets were transferred to the crews of the “Tor-M1” and “Pantsir-S” combat vehicles, which conditionally destroyed targets at altitudes from 350 meters to 3000 meters at a distance of up to 12 kilometers.

As part of the exercise, the Tor-M1 and Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile systems, together with electronic warfare, radio intelligence and aerosol countermeasures, operated for the first time as part of a unified air defense system of the protected area.

The exercises involved the crews of the EW suppression stations “Pole-21”, “Zhitel”, “Svet-KU”, calculations of the TDA-3 thermal smoke machines, the Podlet-K1 and Niobium radar stations and the Tor- М1 “,” Pantsir-S “, more than 500 servicemen and about 50 units of military equipment.

A comprehensive air defense exercise was held on the eve of the 105th anniversary of the formation of the air defense forces of the Russian Ground Forces, which will be celebrated in the Armed Forces on December 26.
