Train: three injured people and massive sheet metal damage

After a collision with a car, a bus went off the road and crashed into four parked cars. Three people were injured, the property damage amounts to several hundred thousand francs. Another traffic accident with a public service bus occurred in the city of Zug in the early evening.

On the night of Tuesday (December 22, 2020), shortly after midnight, a 50-year-old driver intended to drive from Göblistrasse over the intersection into Feldstrasse. At the same time, a bus from Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe drove on the authorized Baarerstrasse coming from Zug towards Baar. As a result, there was a violent collision between the two vehicles. As a result, the articulated bus turned left, crossed the opposite lane, broke through a hedge and finally crashed into four parked cars.

The person who caused the accident, a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old passenger, were slightly injured and taken to the hospital by the Affoltern am Albis ambulance. The 59-year-old bus driver was also slightly injured. However, he will independently seek medical treatment.

At the time of the accident there were three passengers on the bus. Two of them had already left the scene of the accident before the police arrived. The Zug police asked the two people to report to the operations control center (T 041 728 41 41).

The exact property damage cannot yet be quantified, but it should amount to several hundred thousand francs.

Since the articulated bus came to a standstill on concrete elements, it had to be rescued with a recovery truck and a pneumatic crane. Baarerstrasse remained closed for several hours during the recording of the accident and the time-consuming vehicle recovery.

Employees from the rescue service Zug and Affoltern am Albis, the voluntary fire brigade of the city of Zug (FFZ), the Zugerland transport company, a private towing company, the road maintenance service and the Zug police were on duty.

A few hours earlier there was another accident on Chamerstrasse, in which a public bus was involved. This accident happened on Monday evening (December 21, 2020), shortly before 7:00 p.m. A 30-year-old car driver was coming from Zug on Chamerstrasse and intended to turn right into Steinhauserstrasse at the traffic lights. Immediately before that, the driver realized that she actually wanted to drive straight to Cham and therefore steered her vehicle through the intersection. At the same time, a bus from Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe turned from Steinhauserstrasse to Chamerstrasse, which led to a collision.

As a result of the impact, the vehicle that had caused the accident turned and rolled backwards into a car parked at the traffic lights.

Nobody was injured, the property damage to the vehicles amounts to around CHF 15,000.
