Met officers disbanded a house party attended by more than 30 people in Kensington and Chelsea that was in breach of Covid rules.
Police were made aware of a party at an address at Cadogan Gardens, SW3, on Thursday, 17 December, after reports of loud music coming from one of the flats.
When police arrived, they made their way up to the property and could hear music and people shouting as they got closer.
The door was slightly open. The officers went inside to find more than 30 people in the address drinking, eating and playing music.
All those who did not live at the address were told to go home. One man in the flat made himself known to police as the organiser of the party.
He now faces a £10,000 fine for hosting the party.
PC James Berridge-Cane from the Met’s Central West BCU, said: “I am astounded that people are putting themselves, their families and their friends at risks by hosting flat parties and possibly spreading this virus.
“This is a critical time for London. Our infection rate is sadly on the rise and we all need to pull together to drive down the rate of infection and protect our families and the NHS.”
