The High Command of the Navy summed up the results of the activities of the sponsored Children’s Maritime Center “Karavella” named after A. Moskalenko at the end of 2020.

Despite the restrictive measures, 2020 for the cadets of the Children’s Maritime Center “Karavella” was full of events held both in person and remotely using video conferencing.

For the first time, in accordance with the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, the Main Command of the Navy together with the A. Moskalenko Children’s Maritime Center “Karavella” held an Internet quiz “Yungi of Russia – 2020” dedicated to the Day of the Navy.

Young sailors of Russia, future officers – cadets and cadets of children’s naval centers and clubs for young sailors, the Nakhimov Naval School and cadet corps, as well as youth soldiers and students of educational organizations were invited to participate. The age of the participants is up to 18 years old. The quiz consisted of three sections: the history of the Russian fleet, the basics of naval affairs, boat and sailing. A total of 228 people took part in the quiz. The winners of the quiz were awarded with diplomas of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

This year, events dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation and the Day of St. Andrew’s Flag, lessons of Courage and Watch of Memory on the Day of the Unknown Soldier and the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland were held for the cadets of the “Caravel”, ceremonies were held in honor of the Day of the Marine Corps and the Day of Military Glory of Russia – Day of the victory of the Russian squadron under the command of P.S. Nakhimov in the Battle of Sinop. In addition, representatives of the DMC “Caravel” traditionally acted as organizers of the annual urban competitions in applied types of sea all-around “Young Sailor”, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica (general physical training of rowers, swimming, shooting, navigational affairs, boat arrangement, rigging, flag semaphore) , as well as regional fire training competitions.

On the days of ceremonial lineups and festive events, the ritual of swearing in the Caravelle Medical Center, as well as joining the ranks of the Jung Yunarmiya, took place. In total, during 2020, more than 100 pupils of the institution became Yunarmeys.

In 2020, thanks to the attention and support of the Main Command of the Navy, friendly ties were established between the institution and the crew of the nuclear submarine K-537 Novosibirsk.

For the purpose of vocational guidance work, joint activities of the Children’s Maritime Center “Caravel” and the Main Command of the Navy continue in the framework of the action “There is such a profession – to defend the Motherland!” maritime center “Karavella”.

At the end of the year, for a great contribution to the education of young people in the combat traditions of the Navy, the director of the Caravella Center, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Glazachev, and the teachers of the Center, Senior Lieutenant Alexander Yeshchenko, Pavel Komissarov and Ksenia Bocharova were awarded diplomas of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
