The Russian Underwater Sports Championship was held in the city on the Neva. Pupils of the CSKA sports school (St. Petersburg) won 4 silver and 1 bronze medals at these competitions.

More than 250 swimmers from 23 regions have gathered at the Nevskaya Volna Water Sports Center. During the four competition days, athletes competed for awards in four disciplines: swimming with fins, swimming with classic fins, scuba diving and diving.

In the mixed fours competition at a distance of 50 meters, pupils of the SS (ORK) CSKA, St. Petersburg Alexander Malyshev and Vyacheslav Netreba, as well as Vlada Markina and Maria Salnikova became silver medalists with the completion of the relay with a result of 1 minute 12.24 seconds, losing to the team from the Tomsk region 2.74 seconds. The bronze medal in this discipline was won by the team of the Sverdlovsk region (1 minute 12.35 seconds).

Vyacheslav Netreba also won silver in the 50m long dive with a result of 15.23 seconds. The first place was taken by Alexey Berestov from the Tomsk region (15.22 seconds), the bronze medal was taken by Stepan Pugachev from the Chelyabinsk region (15.79 seconds).

An army athlete from St. Petersburg Marina Shushkina, Vlada Markina, Maria Salnikova and Alexandra Latenkova as part of the team took second place in the relay race with fins at a distance of 100 meters with a score of 2 minutes 50.82 seconds, behind 3.84 seconds to the team from the Tomsk region … The team from the Krasnoyarsk Territory closed the top three (2 minutes 52.80 seconds).

In the 50 meter swim with flippers, Maria showed the third result, finishing with a time of 18.68 seconds. The winner in the swim was Diana Sliseva from the Tomsk Region (18.46 seconds). Second place went to Vlada Markina from St. Petersburg (18.67 seconds).
