The lead ship of the Yasen-M project, the Kazan nuclear submarine missile cruiser, has successfully fired the Onyx anti-ship cruise missile at a sea target. Rocket fire was conducted from the Northern Fleet’s combat training grounds in the White Sea as part of the next stage of state tests. The naval target position was successfully hit.

The ships and vessels of the White Sea naval base of the Northern Fleet were responsible for the protection of the water area and the provision of firing. The nuclear-powered missile submarine Kazan entered the next stage of state tests at the end of last week with a full-time crew and an acceptance team on board.

Earlier, in November this year, the Kazan nuclear-powered missile submarine successfully performed two test firing – at a coastal target with a Caliber cruise missile and an Onyx cruise missile at a sea target.

At the combat training grounds of the Northern Fleet, the cruiser Kazan continues to carry out a number of tests of ship systems, assemblies, ship armament complexes, the main systems and mechanisms of the ship. After the completion of the entire program of state tests, the Kazan nuclear submarine missile cruiser will be accepted into the Russian Navy.
