The Uri Building Department has issued new guidelines for parking on pass roads with winter closure. This also includes a new signage.

In the past it happened again and again that cars were parked on pass roads with winter closure. The problem was that pass roads are main roads on which parking is generally prohibited outside of built-up areas (Art. 19 (2) Traffic Regulations Ordinance and No. 242 Ordinance on Administrative Fines). If the police found this on site, parking busses had to be issued. This often caused a lack of understanding among the vehicle owners concerned.

The Uri Building Department, in cooperation with the Uri Cantonal Police, has adapted its practice for this winter. She has now installed boards on Klausen, Oberalp and Susten in the immediate vicinity of the barriers that physically symbolize the winter closure. This shows on which side of the street vehicles can be parked over a defined length within a limited period of time in order to be able to set off from there on ski tours or snowshoe hikes, for example. However, the number of parking spaces remains limited to the defined length of the parking space. If cars are parked in other places on the pass road, the previous measures apply.
