Cúcuta (Dec 17/20). The Delegation chaired by Ambassador Nancy Benítez Páez, Director for Development and Border Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered 14 and a half tons of personal protection items, biomedical equipment and cleaning items, aimed at the Hospitals; Erasmo Meoz from Cúcuta, Jorge Cristo Sahium from Villa del Rosario and the Puerto Santander Medical Center in order to support the response capacity of border departments in the emergency caused by Covid-19.
The award ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Norte de Santander department, Silvano Serrano, the mayor of the municipality of Cúcuta Jairo Yañez, the mayor of the municipality of Villa del Rosario Eugenio Rangel, the mayor of the municipality of Puerto Santander María Virginia Torres, among other local authorities.
As a sign of the commitment of the National Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Border Plan of the Directorate for Border Development and Integration has prioritized an investment of 3 billion pesos directed to border departments for the acquisition of elements of personal protection, hygiene items and biomedical equipment, in order to strengthen the service capacity of the public network in border areas.
