Voting will take place in the Active Citizen project as part of the second stage of the Million Trees campaign.

The second stage of the “Million Trees” campaign has started – the townspeople will have to choose shrubs and trees that will appear in their yards next spring. In project voting “Active citizen”Inhabitants of 1,550 households, which are located in all metropolitan districts, except for the TyNAO will participate.

Muscovites will be able to choose from several variants of shrubs: barberry, deren, viburnum, cotoneaster, cotoneaster, wild rose, bubblegum, lilac, snowberry, spirea and mock-orange. In addition, “active citizens” will decide which trees to plant: birch, oak, spruce, willow, maple, linden, larch, mountain ash, thuja, bird cherry, apple or ash.

The yards were identified during the first stage of the action, which took place in the spring of 2020. With the help of the Active Citizen project, Muscovites were able to apply for landscaping. The voting was attended by 218 316 people. Of these, 62.29 percent were in favor of planting shrubs and trees. 21.81 percent answered that landscaping is unnecessary. The specialists checked the applications and made a list of yards that reached the second stage.

Last season, the most popular shrubs were lilacs, chubushnik and cotoneaster. Of the trees, the leaders were spruce, willow, oak and birch.

The Million Trees campaign is one of the largest urban landscaping programs. In 2014, the Active Citizen project joined it, voting is held on its site, with the help of which citizens determine whether they need to plant trees in their yards, and also choose specific types of trees and shrubs. For six years, at the request of Muscovites, more than 26.6 thousand trees and over 1.1 million shrubs have been planted in yards.

The Active Citizen project for online voting on urban development issues was launched in 2014. During this time, more than 4.7 million people have joined it. Participants determine which streets, courtyards and park areas need to be improved, how city polyclinics, libraries and multifunctional centers should operate. The townspeople share their opinions on many other issues.

Since the launch of the project, Muscovites have taken part in more than 4.7 thousand votes. In June 2020, the website of the “Active Citizen” appeared online map, where you can see the changes that have occurred in the city as a result of the voting. In total, more than 1.6 thousand objects have already been plotted on the diagram.
