The event was attended by Venezuelan Foreign Deputy Minister Ruben Dario Molina, President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association Carolus Wimmer, and President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce Oswaldo Hernandez, among others.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Le Viet Duyen reviewed the achievements that Vietnam has achieved over the past 35 years of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

He also emphasised the fruitful development of the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela over the past 15 years. The two countries have signed over 50 agreements in various fields and implemented 16 cooperation projects in areas such as oil and gas, agriculture and fisheries.

The ambassador also affirmed that the establishment of the Venezuela – Vietnam Friendship Association and the Venezuela-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce in 2020 will contribute to bringing fully into play the strengths and potential of the two countries, particularly in terms of the economy and trade, and enhancing the bilateral friendship in the time ahead.

In particular, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s invitation to Vietnam as the main guest at the 17th International Book Fair of Venezuela proved that the two nations shared many common values such as peace, progress, humanitarianism, development and prosperity.

On the occasion, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen announced the opening of Espacio Vietnam in the capital city of Caracas, promoting the products, culture and cuisine of Vietnam.
