Cham: Three burglars arrested red-handed

After burglaries in Cham, three alleged perpetrators were arrested by the deployed forces and thanks to the police dog Wyk. Delicts were also seized.

On the night of Monday (December 14, 2020) three men committed several offenses in Cham. Shortly after 3:30 a.m., the first report came in that three young men had broken into a house at Villette. A short time later the next report came in that strangers wanted to break into an apartment. The emergency services managed to arrest two men on Seehofstrasse, also thanks to the active support of the police dog Wyk. During the search, they were able to arrest a third suspect on the platform at Cham train station.

The investigations so far have shown that the three men broke into a vehicle and stole valuables from it. When one of the men was arrested, he was carrying a backpack with valuables that he had previously stolen from the car. It is now being clarified whether the arrested suspects are suitable for other, similar offenses. The thefts from unlocked vehicles have been reported to the police in recent days. The clarifications in this regard are in progress. The three North Africans aged 18, 27 and 30 were brought to the public prosecutor of the canton of Zug, which opened a criminal investigation. She has also applied to the compulsory measures court for pre-trial detention.

Report suspicious observations immediately

The case shows once again how important it is to report suspicious observations to the police immediately. Thanks to such information, it is always possible to arrest suspected perpetrators red-handed or to prevent criminal offenses. So do not hesitate to call 117 police emergency number if you observe anything suspicious.

Always lock the vehicle, apartment and house

Make sure that you always lock your vehicle and all front doors. If doors are not locked, it is particularly easy for burglars and thieves to steal valuables.
