In the coming years, the construction of the BCL will be completed, the MCD-3 and MCD-4 will be opened, the rolling stock of the metro and tram fleet will be renewed, and traffic will be launched on all expressways.
The capital will continue to develop the transport system – build new highways and metro lines, renovate carriages and trams, and purchase electric buses. Told about it Sergei Sobyanin during the annual report to the deputies of the Moscow City Duma.
“The plans for the coming years include the completion of the construction of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro and the first section of the new Troitskaya line, the extension of the metro to Vnukovo, Severny District and a number of other projects. In addition to the first two diameters of the surface metro, MCD-3 Zelenograd – Ramenskoye will be opened, and most of the work will be done on MCD-4 Aprelevka – Zheleznodorozhny. The decision on these diameters has been made, a significant part of the facilities are already under construction, ”the Moscow Mayor said.
In 2021 alone, they plan to open nine metro stations on the western, southern and southwestern sections of the BCL. In general, the length of the ring will be 70 kilometers, it will have 31 stations. Passengers will be able to transfer to radial metro lines, Moscow Central Circle (MCC), Moscow Central Diameters and radial railway lines.
The Troitskaya metro line (project name – Kommunarskaya line) will run from the station of the Moscow Central Ring Krymskaya to Troitsk. Its length will be 40 kilometers, with a total of 16 stations. More than a million people will be provided with transport.
Two new diameters of the surface metro will be launched. MCD-3 “Leningradsko-Kazansky” 85 kilometers long with 42 stops will connect Zelenograd with the city of Ramenskoye. And on the line MCD-4 “Kievsko-Gorkovsky” there will be 39 stops, the total length of the diameter will be 86 kilometers.

Rolling stock is also planned to be renewed. Passengers will travel in new metro cars, updated trams and electric buses. So, in the next three years about 1,300 cars of the new model “Moscow-2020” will appear in the metro.
“By 2023, 80 percent of the Moscow metro fleet will be Moscow and other modern series cars. The park of city trams will be completely renewed, and the share of electric buses will reach almost a third of the land transport fleet, ”Sergei Sobyanin said.
The city authorities started renewing the tram fleet 10 years ago. Since then, 70 percent of the park has been replaced. Now 450 modern trams run in the capital, more than 380 of them are Vityaz-Moscow trains. In 2021, another 109 new generation trains will be launched on city routes.
In October, the 500th electric bus entered the line and entered the Mosgortrans fleet. The capital’s electric bus fleet has already become the largest in Europe.

The construction of highways continues. One of the main projects is chord lines. Now the North-West Expressway is completely open for motorists, the North-East Expressway has started traffic in six sections, and on the South Road – in three. The Southeast Expressway is one third complete. Construction work is already underway there at seven out of 10 sites.
“In the coming years, road construction will be focused on completing projects for creating chord highways, a road frame for New Moscow and building roads necessary for the development of promising territories,” said Sergei Sobyanin.
At the same time, Moscow does not focus only on road construction. The city has the largest metro construction in history – one of the largest in the world. Old suburban railways and electric trains are being extensively reconstructed, new land transport systems are being introduced. “But nevertheless, it is very important without the construction of roads, especially main roads, which enable transit transport to pass through the city center. The construction of chords, in fact, reduces the amount of emissions, idle transport, overrun by at least 10 percent, ”the Moscow Mayor emphasized.
Thus, it becomes the largest environmental project. In addition, Muscovites support the implementation of transport projects. Voting was carried out in the “Active Citizen” project.

Moscow has always paid great attention to solving transport problems. Since 2011, 302.7 kilometers of lines, 147 stations, three additional lobbies of the metro, MCC and Moscow Central Diameters, as well as 10 electric depots have been commissioned. Also, since 2011, at least 100 kilometers new roads.
“The comfort of city trips is the most important competitive advantage of Moscow, which distinguishes our city from many other megacities. All this did not arise by itself, but was the result of 10 years of consistent work. In the coming years, no less needs to be done to improve the quality of the capital’s transport system, ”added Sergei Sobyanin.
