Preparations for the qualifying stage of the Tank Biathlon competition ARMI-2021 have started at the training grounds of the Southern Military District (YuVO). In total, more than 330 tank crews with a total number of over a thousand people will participate in the selection.

Classes are held at combined-arms training grounds in Rostov and Volgograd regions, Crimea, Dagestan, Chechnya, North Ossetia and Adygea, as well as at military bases in the Southern Military District in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.

The driver-mechanics of the T-90 and T-72B3 tanks practice the passage of a route of increased complexity – with an obstacle course in the form of escarps, trenches, ditches, track bridges, slopes and mine-explosive obstacles.

Crews perform flank shooting and a complex firing exercise using the T-72B3 tank armament system. Shooting is carried out from a place and in motion with a standard projectile at emerging and moving targets imitating tanks and low-flying helicopters at a distance from 900 to 2200 m.

The “Tank Biathlon” professional skill competition is included in the program of the International Army Games. Qualifying stages in formations and military units will begin in early 2021. The winners will continue to compete across the union and district.
