Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, in his speech at the collegium of the Ministry of Sports, announced the main sports results of the year and determined the main directions for the development of the industry for the next year.
The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, was attended by Presidential Aide Igor Levitin, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Boris Paikin.
Opening the collegium, Dmitry Chernyshenko reported on the positive results of the industry in 2020, despite the difficulties that he had to face in the moments of limiting sports events, organizing a special training regime for athletes and a period of self-isolation of people.
In compliance with all the necessary epidemiological measures, after the restrictions, the preparation of national teams was actively resumed and professional competitions were held at a decent level, including the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the preservation of the leading positions of Russian athletes in unofficial standings in Olympic disciplines. In particular, at the European championships in summer and winter Olympic sports in the final standings, our country takes first place, having won 40 and 43 sets of medals, respectively. He thanked everyone for the high results in non-standard conditions.
“The pandemic has accelerated the pace of digital transformation in sports. For the first time, millions of Russians, professionals and amateurs, have played sports using digital services. And we will use this experience in the future, ”the Deputy Prime Minister added.
The main plans and objectives of the industry, according to Dmitry Chernyshenko, are consistent with the new strategic documents adopted this year. The key task is to increase up to 70% of those involved in sports. The activities of the 2030 Strategy are aimed at digital transformation of the system, the formation of a sports reserve, the introduction of innovations, as well as international cooperation and the fight against doping.
Dmitry Chernyshenko wished the athletes high quality training and successful performances at the upcoming Winter and Summer Olympic Games.
Oleg Matytsin in his speech noted the well-coordinated work of the Ministry of Sports and all industry organizations during the period of restrictive measures at the beginning of the year, which made it possible to adapt to new conditions, restore the training process of the country’s sports teams and organize events in coordination with the regions.
The minister also said that within the framework of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography” by the end of 2020, the construction of about 200 sports facilities will be completed, including indoor hockey rinks, football arenas, and sports and recreation centers. Financing of the federal project this year amounted to 32 billion rubles.
The meeting participants discussed the preparation for the Olympic Games of Russian sports teams and considered the implementation of the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” (TRP) on the territory of the subjects, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2021.
As a result, the work plan of the collegium of the Ministry of Sports for the next year was approved.
