This year, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2020) scheduled to be held in Lithuania was cancelled. With the desire to create a useful playground for students who love physics worldwide, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology took the initiative to organise the International Physics Olympiad from December 7-15, 2020, in a distributed form by country (IdPhO 2020) for students who missed out at the International Physics Olympiad last year.

The exercises of the International Distributed Physics Olympiad – IdPhO 2020 were conducted in the exact same manner as the annual Olympics. Candidates worked under the supervision of observers sent by the organising committee to each country.

The results of the Vietnamese Olympic Physics delegation closed the year with great success for Vietnamese students at the IdPhO 2020. Notably, this was the first year in which Vietnam selected a number of 10th graders to attend the international contest, and they have shown good results.
