Press release 509 from December 15, 2020
WIESBADEN – The “Dashboard Germany“Is online: With the interactive portal, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) bundles up-to-date data on the subjects of economy and finance as well as health and mobility. At the start, the dashboard developed on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs (BMI), the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) already offers more than 100 indicators. The offer is optimized for mobile devices and freely accessible without registration.
In the “Dashboard Germany” indicators from official statistics are supplemented by high-frequency information from other data providers. As a result, the dashboard provides a comprehensive picture of the current situation in Germany. In the current situation, the offer also serves as an indicator for the Corona crisis. For example, the dashboard contains current figures on corona aid granted to companies from the federal government’s economic stimulus package (e.g. bridging aid, November aid and approved loans from the KfW special program). In the area of health, the portal offers the most important information from the Robert Koch Institute on the current pandemic situation, and in the area of ”mobility”, mobility indicators and movement data based on cell phone data are updated daily. Explanatory texts make it easier for users to interpret the visualized results.
Dr. Georg Thiel, President of the Federal Statistical Office: “With the Dashboard Germany, which was consistently developed according to the Mobile First approach, the Federal Statistical Office is making an important contribution to the Federal Government’s open data strategy. We use it to make high-quality statistical information easily accessible and support fact-based democratic discourse. I would like to thank our partners – the three initiating ministries and the data providers with whom we cooperate – for their trust in our company as a future-oriented data manager and information service provider. “
At the start, the “Dashboard Germany” already offers basic options for data analysis and for sharing content. By mid-2021, both the range of indicators and technical functionalities will be further expanded. The “Dashboard Germany” can be used free of charge and without registration and via the websites of the BMI, BMF, BMWi, the Federal Statistical Office and directly at www.dashboard-deutschland.de reachable.
