From December 15, 2020, the reasons for travel outside his home are limited during the curfew established between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Whenever you leave your home during this time, you must bring a document justifying that your trip is linked to one of the authorized reasons. A new model “curfew” exemption certificate is available. Proof of work and proof of school trip are also available if these trips do not take place during the day. Failure to comply with these rules could result in a fine.

From Tuesday December 15 at 8 p.m., for any outing outside the home between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., you must have a document with you that justifies that your trip is linked to one of the authorized reasons. This document is to be presented to law enforcement in the event of an inspection.

Depending on your situation, several certificate models are available:

the exceptional travel certificate in paper format or digital usable (available in English and in “Easy to read and understand”) for:
travel between home and the place of exercise of professional activity or a training establishment, professional travel that cannot be postponed, travel for a competition or an examination (such as a driving license);
travel between home and educational institution (school, college, high school);
consultations, examinations and care that cannot be provided remotely or deferred and the purchase of medication;
displacement for compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable and precarious people or for childcare;
the movement of people with disabilities and their companions;
a judicial or administrative summons;
participation in missions of general interest at the request of the administrative authority;
trips related to transfers or transits to or from stations or airports in the context of long-distance trips;
short trips, within a maximum radius of 1 kilometer around the home for the needs of pets.

For salaried workers, it is not necessary to bring along with this proof, the exceptional travel certificate. Non-salaried workers, for whom this proof cannot be established, must, on the other hand, obtain the exceptional travel certificate by checking the first reason for travel.

Note: The exceptional travel certificate is directly accessible from the “TousAntiCovid” application. It allows you to save your data and keep the QR code of your last generated certificate.

Note: Certificates can also be written on plain paper. They must then be completed or written in a pen with indelible ink.


Failure to comply with these measures results in:

first sanction: a fine of € 135, increased to € 375 (in the event of non-payment or non-dispute within the time limit indicated on the notice of violation);
in the event of a repeat offense within 15 days: a fine of € 200, increased to € 450 (in the event of non-payment or non-dispute within the period indicated on the notice of violation);
after 3 offenses in 30 days: a fine of € 3,750 punishable by 6 months’ imprisonment.

Please note: Free movement will be allowed for Christmas Eve, that is to say between Thursday December 24, 2020 at 8 p.m. and Friday December 25, 2020 at 6 a.m.
