Muscovites will be able to learn about the discovery of Antarctica, discuss urban ecology issues, or learn how to crochet New Year’s toys.

This week, non-profit organizations (NPOs) invite Muscovites to participate in the film festival or join the discussion of urban ecology issues. Those interested in the work of NGOs can learn how it has changed in the face of the pandemic. And at the end of the week Muscovites will have a crochet master class. All events will be held online.

Festival of travel films

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian navigators Faddey Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev, an online festival of tourist films and TV programs “Date with Russia” is being held in Moscow. The program included films about the history of the regions, travels and expeditions, historical, cultural, natural sites and round-the-world races. Viewers will also see films about famous people whose life and work were associated with this or that corner of Russia, about holy places and monuments of religious culture.

The festival will host world premieres of films dedicated to the discovery of Antarctica, “Meridians of History. In memory of the first ”,“ Russian Antarctica. Continued story ”,“ Expedition. Between Antarctica and the Arctic ”with English subtitles. Round tables, master classes, and creative meetings are also planned. VII Moscow Eco-Residency of Volunteers and City Activists

On December 15 at 09:30 am, the VII Moscow Eco-Residence of Volunteers and City Activists will start working. This year’s event will be held online and will be dedicated to specially protected natural areas and the impact of the pandemic on ecotourism. City ecovolunteers, experts in the field of ecology, urbanism and green innovation will meet at the festival site. They will analyze topical issues of the city’s ecology, discuss opportunities for environmental education, propose ideas for popularizing nature reserves among children and youth, and much more. Conference on the work of NGOs during a pandemic

As part of the project “Moscow NGOs to the People” on December 15 at 10:00 an online conference “Social services of NGOs in a pandemic: the experience of Moscow and Europe” will be held. Experts from the UK and France, as well as representatives of Russian non-profit organizations, will tell how NGOs function in the new environment, share their experience in solving emerging problems and discuss new opportunities for providing assistance. The meeting will be translated into Russian. To participate you need register.

Master class on knitting toys

During the free master classes of the public organization “Golden Weave”, the townspeople will be able to make gifts close to the New Year with their own hands. All you need is a crochet hook and a ball of thread. There is no age limit. On December 15, the participants, together with the presenter, will tie a New Year tree, and on December 17, a decoration for it. Master classes start at 19:30. You can join this link.
