Police investigate the suicide of a police officer

     Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old off-duty police officer in Cheung Chau Police Station this afternoon (December 15).     At 4.38pm, Police found a 57-year-old off-duty male Police Constable, who was attached to the Divisional Support Unit of Cheung Chau Police Division, injured inside a room in Cheung Chau Police Station. He had a gunshot wound to his head and was later certified dead at scene. A service pistol was found next to the deceased and a suicide note was also found at scene.     Upon initial investigation, it is believed that he committed suicide with his service pistol.     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.     Investigation by Regional Crime Unit of Marine is underway.     Police express sorrow and regret over the death of the police officer and extend sympathies to his family. Police will offer assistance to the family members of the deceased.
