At the third stage of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup in the Austrian Innsbruck, a skeleton competition was held. Army athletes Elena Nikitina and Alexander Tretyakov won the gold medal.

Ensign Yelena Nikitina won a landslide victory at the third stage of the World Cup in skeleton, covering the distance in 53.74 seconds. Dutch Kimberly Bose came in second, 0.28 seconds back. The bronze medalist was the Austrian Janin Flock – 0.45 seconds back.

Note that this time the winner was determined only by the results of the second race, because during the first attempt, the representative of the American Virgin Islands, Katie Tannenbaum, crashed into a mop.

Alexander Tretyakov and Martins Dukurs from Latvia showed the same result after two attempts in the men’s race – 1 minute 45.52 seconds – and shared the first place. Russian Nikita Tregubov came in third, 0.02 seconds back.

Thanks to the results shown at the third stage, Elena Nikitina took third place in the overall standings of the World Cup. Elena scored 587 points, behind after three starts the Austrian Janine Flock (650) and Kimberly Bose from the Netherlands (620). On account of Alexander Tretyakov 521 points and the sixth place in the overall standings.
