“Unlimited fantasy in a limited space”, under this name, an exhibition of dolls of convicted women of the medical correctional institution No. 7 opened in the Chuvash State Art Museum.
Psychologists LIU-7 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Chuvash Republic – Chuvashia introduced a new method – puppet therapy – into work with convicted women suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, proposed as a direction of art therapy. It should be noted that puppet therapy has recently become very popular and is often used in the work of psychologists.
– Dolls are one of the simplest and at the same time multifaceted, mysterious and interesting creations of man. Making dolls is a laborious work, a sign of the world around us in the form of “oneself,” notes psychologist Inna Kosikhina.
On December 11, the Chuvash State Art Museum opened an exhibition of dolls of convicted women entitled “Unlimited Fantasy in a Confined Space”, which will be open to everyone until January 11, 2021.
The employees note that there is actually a great variety of techniques for creating dolls: you can make them from paper, thread, fabric, create puppet dolls – and each time the doll will be special. Puclotherapy allows people to express themselves, to form self-control skills.
After serving their sentence, the convicts will have to actually re-adapt in the changed world. When they go free, they are sometimes completely unadapted to life in a new reality.
“Today we saw that with this category of persons, the institution is carrying out comprehensive work aimed at the rehabilitation of convicts,” said the director of the museum Gennady Kozlov.
Summing up, it can be noted that all measures for the re-socialization of women contribute to the fact that when released from prison, convicts feel successful, increase their self-esteem, while we achieve the main goal – the prevention of new crimes.
