Wuhan found the season’s first victory after beating Daqing 79-45, while Inner Mongolia went back to the top spot of the list after defeating Dongguan 89-65 and Beijing edged Sichuan 79-77 in the 15th round of the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league here on Monday.
Sichuan established a 37-35 lead at halftime and continued a powerful ten-minute performance in the third quarter, stepping into the final quarter with 64-54, but their opponents Beijing were the final winners.
At the beginning of the final quarter, Shao Ting’s jump shot helped Sichuan extend the lead to 12 points and maintained the two-digit lead with just four minutes left.
Shi Xiufeng’s 3-pointer started a 9-0 surge for Beijing in just 90 seconds.
Tang Yu’s two points helped Beijing tie Sichuan 77-77 with only 51 seconds left, and Ma Yina’s two points ensured Beijing’s comeback. Although Mai missed two free throws, 79-77 was good enough to secure Beijing’s victory.
Three Beijing players contributed two-digit scores as Shi Xiufeng packed 21 points and seven rebounds.
Shao Ting got game-high 22 points for Sichuan.

Wuhan restrained the opponents only eight points in the second quarter. Three Wuhan players packed two-digit points, and Ha Wenqian got a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Peng Huaqian and Li Xiu added 19 and 18 points, respectively. Cao Yuanjing contributed 15 points for Daqing.
Inner Mongolia returned to the top spot after a big win over Dongguan. Wei Wei contributed a game-high 20 points for Inner Mongolia, and three other teammates also contributed two-digit points. Shen Yi packed 19 points and seven rebounds for Dongguan.
The remaining matches of the 15th round will be played on Tuesday. Shanxi will battle Xinjiang, while Zhejiang will face Tianjin.
