Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Services (TAAS) provide free information, advice and advocacy to renters in their local areas. TAASs assist renters in private rental housing, social housing tenants, boarders and lodgers, and land lease community residents. They respond to approximately 30,000 requests annually for tenancy advice and provide ongoing assistance to approximately 10,000 tenants annually.

Most TAASs will take a short, well-deserved break over the Christmas and New Year period.

But renters can still access advice.

At the moment, the Tenants’ Union is running an Advice Line every day of the week, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm. The Advice Line is currently prioritising renters in bushfire impacted areas and/or those impacted by COVID-19.

During the Christmas closure period, they will run an additional Holiday Advice Line from Thursday 24/12/20 until Monday 4/1/2021, except public holidays. As usual, the hours of operation are 10am-1pm, 2-5pm.

Call the Advice Line on 1800 251 101 or (02) 8117 3750.
