Officers of the Eastern Military District and veterans of military service conducted lessons of “courage” with schoolchildren and young soldiers of the Amur region. The events were dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland.

The officers spoke about the glorious pages of the military history of the Patronymic on the examples of specific people – Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia, holders of the Order of St. George and the Order of Glory.

Also, informative conversations were held among conscripts in the formations and military units of the Amur Association of the Air Defense Forces. Special attention was paid to the stories about the exploits of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia at different times serving in the combined arms formation of the district.

For reference:

For the courage and heroism shown during the Great Patriotic War, 48 soldiers of the 29th Rifle Corps, the successor of which is the Amur Association of the Air Defense Forces, were awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Three of them – senior lieutenant Ivan Ladushkin, junior lieutenant Vladimir Levakov and sergeant Nikolai Nosulya – are forever enlisted in the lists of the association’s formations. In 2012, the high rank of Hero of Russia was awarded to Major Sergei Solnechnikov, commander of the communications unit of the association. He covered himself with a grenade that had been unsuccessfully thrown by the trainee during the class. At the cost of his life, the officer saved the life of his subordinate.
