During a working visit to Tashkent, the commander of the Central Military District (CVO), Colonel-General Alexander Lapin discussed topical issues of regional security and the development of military cooperation with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Pavel Ergashev.

During the meeting, the commander noted the positive dynamics in the interaction of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan traditionally participate in the activities of the operational and combat training of the Central Military District, training camps, command-staff training and exercises. The number of large-scale joint events is also growing. In 2020, their number reached ten, which is five times more than in 2017.

“Since 2017, cooperation between our defense ministries has been constantly developing and, which is important, has a practical orientation. One cannot fail to note the overall positive dynamics, especially during joint training events. Representatives of the armed forces of Uzbekistan have become permanent participants in operational and combat training events held in Central military district “, – said Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

Also at the meeting, the parties exchanged views on regional security issues and discussed the procedure for the implementation of certain preparation activities planned for 2021.
