For almost four months, the tanker supported the operation of warships and support vessels of the Russian Navy and the Northern Fleet in the far sea zone. Most of the time, the SMT “Akademik Pashin” operated as part of a detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet, headed by the large anti-submarine ship “Vice-Admiral Kulakov”.

At the Murmansk berth, the ship was met by a military band, the leadership of the auxiliary fleet and the headquarters of the rear of the Northern Fleet, as well as relatives of the sailors.

The solemn meeting ceremony was held under the leadership of the Senior Naval Commander in Murmansk – Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet for Logistics, Rear Admiral Dmitry Ukrainets. He accepted the report of the ship’s captain, congratulated the crew on their return from a long voyage and the successful completion of all assigned tasks.

Together with the sailors during the entire long voyage, a group of marines of the Northern Fleet was on board the tanker, ensuring the safety of the vessel from pirate attacks, potential sabotage and terrorist threats.

The Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet announced his personal gratitude to all the participants of the long-distance cruise and instructed to present the distinguished sailors for awards based on the results of the tasks assigned.

During the long voyage, which lasted since August, the tanker covered more than 20 thousand nautical miles and made several business calls to the ports of the Mediterranean states together with the VPK “Vice-Admiral Kulakov”.

For the tanker, the completed trip to the distant sea zone was the first in its history. SMT “Akademik Pashin” was included in the Northern Fleet in early 2020.
