Employees of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Defense of Russia for the organization and conduct of military memorial work in Germany, together with representatives of the Russian Embassy and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Leipzig, carried out the acceptance of repair and restoration work at the Soviet military grave Ostfriedhof.

On the German side, members of the Leipzig city administration took part in the joint work.

The repair of the graves of Soviet servicemen at the expense of the FRG included the reorganization of the tombstones and the application of personal data of the victims on them in a single format. In turn, the rehabilitation of the obelisks and the laying of sidewalk slabs at the Soviet military burial was carried out at the expense of the Russian Federation.

The representative office of the Russian Ministry of Defense verified the list of Soviet servicemen buried at the Ostfriedhof cemetery.

At the Soviet military burial Ostfriedhof in Leipzig lie the Red Army soldiers who died on the battlefields during the Second World War and died in Leipzig hospitals from wounds and diseases.

251 Soviet soldiers, resting in solitary graves. Each of the graves has its own tombstone.

At the enterprises of Leipzig, 1270 Soviet prisoners of war and other Soviet citizens, driven by the Nazis from their homes, died.

Their remains are buried in two mass graves.
