He informed Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu of the country’s socio-economic situation and achievements in 2020.

Despite impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam is among few countries enjoying positive economic growth, he said, adding that the achievement is thanks to the sound leadership of the Party and the unity of people from all walks of life, including Catholics.

He expressed his hope that Bishop Hieu and other dignitaries will continue encouraging local Catholics to strictly follow the Party and State’s policies, and actively participate in movements and campaigns so as to contribute more to the locality’s socio-economic development.

Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu, for his part, thanked leaders from the Party, State, VFF, socio-political organisations and local authority for facilitating the Catholic community’s religious activities.

Nam Dinh province is home to nearly 600 churches, 140 parishes, and a community of more than 470,000 Catholic followers, accounting for over 20% of the province’s population.
